SOULSKINNER
Seven Bowls Of Wrath

Is Greece the flagbearer of the new, dirty and evil? The Greek scene has some eclectic mix of bands. I know, I know! All things weird and Avantgarde seem to come from North America or to an extent the UK. However, hear me out. Often the most rotten, innovative and solid Metal springs up from Greece and we seldom pay attention to their scene at large. Now, SOULSKINNER has a rich history, “Seven Bowls Of Wrath” isn’t necessarily a new milestone in the genre, but SOULSKINNER manage to put forward their best thinking minds and in 47 minutes create rich atmospheric dark Death Metal. It heavily meanders around the spirit of classic Black Metal whilst not losing track on the brutality and viciousness of the attack. I’d recommend this to a lot of bands first and then the fans, it’s a good representation of moderation in Death Metal that we seldom see these days. No, the drumming isn’t a black magic engulfed skin attack, it is precise, rounding the attack inch by inch. The riffs aren’t all new and they haven’t descended from the heavens, rather they’ve been put together with such meticulous care that they spring to life almost always during the course of the album. Some solos simply wrap around the rhythm, adding in another element of evil. Frankly, I’ve quite enjoyed this album. Take the relentless battery of BOLT THROWER and add in the traditional Death Metal heaviness of your standard Finnish bands with a twist of atmospheric eeriness and we have the overall vision of SOULSKINNER. Definitely recommended to all fans at large. This album surely has something for everyone. For more info, please visit www.facebook.com/soulskinnerband, www.xtreemmusic.com
