Powerful driving Death Metal with lots of influences and elements coined by traditional Heavy Metal offer long-time active ABOMINANT from the US. Though the Heavy Metal elements do not weaken the bands forceful brutality the ACCEPT-like vocal parts and high-pitch “where-are-my-balls” – Halford screams are certainly not everybody’s taste. Despise that production and song-writing mirror the band’s experience and technical skill and “Conquest” effectively combines melodic riffs with merciless speed and pounding drumming. Sometimes the band makes me think of a blasting version of AMON AMARTH or the “CANNIBAL CORPSE of melodic Death”, ABOMINANT have certainly developed a unique, unmistakable style that should especially kill on stage. On album it is not really my thing, but mostly due to the Heavy Metal-elements, people who can imagine violent yet melodic Death Metal uniting a wide spectrum of vocal-styles from growl to Metal-scream in one band should definitely check out “Conquest”, I will stick to ARGHOSLENT… www.deathgasm.com
