ASSASSIN
Breaking The Silence
(Steamhammer Records / SPV)
43:20min

This first ASSASSIN release since 6 years does everything to ressurrect the glory days of the famous German Thrash Metal. Just like "The Club" from 2005, "Breaking The Silence" left me a bit disappointed. Hate to say this, because it contains all ingredients for the once so successful formula, like galloping rhythms, furious riffing ad even some groupy vocals and surely this will put up a great pit live! But again it sounds a bit too much in the end… like they finally can show here what should have been done ages ago. On one hand you’ll get some intense and raw Thrash with awesome breaks and top notch musicianship and technical competence perfected in years. But on the other hand it lacks a class and maturity that should have raised this above the majority. Some parts here and there anticipated this, but it never gets any more than this. The ending track ‘I Like Cola’ finally kills all hope and sounds more like a joke. So if you seek some energetic party Thrash, look no further and serve yourself 43 minutes (10 tracks) of joy. If you have darker demands, look for something else. In any case, give it a try and check yourself at www.assassin-online.de or www.myspace.com/assassinthrashmetal
