Chaotian / Deiquisitor

Split releases are a rarity nowadays, and it’s good that some still consider this as a way to show more faces (of evil) on the same side of darkness. CHAOTIAN is a brutal Death Metal band from Denmark formed in 2017, that has a few releases under their bullet belts and one full length. This is new material, three songs of heavy Death Metal, which sounds more American than European, something that I find not that unusual for Death Metal bands from Denmark. I would say IMMOLATION is an influence here, and obviously that’s never a bad idea. Also the production is heavy and everything sounds very good. Interesting band. Also from Denmark we have DEIQUISITOR, with four songs and they also have a Death Metal sound, but with a few bits of Black Metal here and there. The recording also seems to be of a rawer, more primitive kind, at times making it sound a bit War Metal like. Sometimes I get an ANGELCORPSE vibe in their sound. Out of the two bands, this is a bit less interesting, but on the other hand, it’s the one that most songs tend to sound different one from the other. The last song incorporates some sort of industrial aura, spoken words and a fatalistic view of the future. It also seems that this band split up in 2023, after being formed in 2013 and released four full length albums and many more recordings in that time. As I said before, splits are always interesting if done correctly and this fits that description.
