DESTROYER 666
To The Devil His Due
(Hells Headbangers)
35:47min

This great release was first made by the German Kneel Before The Master’s Throne label on 12″ vinyl exclusively, but sold out fast, so here’s an opportunity to score it again, for those who missed the train the first time and for DESTROYER 666 “completists” to have yet another version, which means even more items to take pictures of and proudly show them on forums, myspace, facebook accounts and such. But what is really hidden behind the dark artwork, made by Kriss Hades, the guitar player of SADISTIK EXEKUTION? Some of the best and until recently hardest to find stuff ever released under the banner of DESTROYER 666 – a compilation featuring all the tracks from their 4 7″es released so far: “Satanic Speed Metal”, “King Of Kings / Lord Of The Wild”, “… Of Wolves, Women & War” and the sold out on pre-sale in 2010 “See You In Hell”. When the anthem ‘Satanic Speed Metal’ kicks in – those who are yet to decide whether they need “To The Devil His Due” or not will be able to decide whether this is something they will keep pleasantly banging their heads to for many years, or they’re just too wimpy to handle such a lethal dose of Satanic Speed Metal power! Those who dig this song have nothing to worry about – while being a compilation of stuff that was released during such a long period as 12 years – these songs have a common denominator of K.K. Warlust’s vocals and interesting lyrics, backed up by Shrapnel’s awesome guitar work, combining riffs that have balls with great Heavy Metal-oriented solos. Lyrics nerds like me will find “To The Devil His Due” even more interesting and various, because these wisely written songs offer more depth and lots of variety, starting with Metal (‘Satanic Speed Metal’) and sex (‘Taste The Poison’) and taking inspiration from shocking historical events (‘Ghost Dance’), poetry (‘Lord Of The Wild’) and so on… So far, so good, but if you already started to think that this review is written by an obsessed DESTROYER 666 fan that cannot be objective and would praise anything released by this band – you’re oh so wrong! There are 2 kinds of DESTROYER 666 fans – those who are yet to be disappointed by their release and those who can’t stand any full length they released after the legendary “Unchain The Wolves”, but usually still like the EPs that came out later. Yours truly belongs to the second group. Nevertheless, and here comes the most critic part of this damn long review – “See You In Hell” is definitely the weakest 7″ out of the 4. This newest EP sounds disappointing and absolutely disposable, even though I have given it more and more chances since it was released. A consolation for those who have a similar opinion about it would be the fact that it’s the last 2 songs on “To The Devil His Due”, so one can stop the record or the CD (the CD version will see the light for the first time now, by the way) just before it begins and then start spinning everything from the start. Still, I’ll sum it up the Hell’s Headbangers way, with the following slogan: “If you need Metal – Go to Hell, and buy “To The Devil His Due”!”.
