I gotta confess that I’ve checked out Singapore’s IMPIETY pretty late, considering the number of releases the band had already put out at the time (two demos, two EPs, three full lengths and two splits), but “Paramount Evil”, their 2004 full length, immediately turned me into a diehard fan nevertheless. The violently performed, harsh mixture of ANGEL CORPSE / classic MORBID ANGEL and old SARCOFAGO / SODOM wasn’t necessarily what I expected to hear from a band that I had already pinpointed in the Black / War Metal corner more or less… Needless to say that I was hooked by it right away! In the meantime I’ve also heard some of the band’s older releases as well, but none of them really convinced me in the same way as “Paramount Evil” or the material that was about to follow it. “Dominator” is their newest release, a rather short EP, that features 3 new songs (plus intro), as well as IMPIETY’s version of ‘The Black Vomit’, a cover of the old SARCOFAGO track. By the way, this song is in every aspect very close to IMPIETY’s own material thus it fits in-between here perfectly. Apart from that, not much has really changed ever since “Paramount Evil”, but that’s more than fine with me. IMPIETY are still highly aggressive, uncompromising as fuck, yet deliver their brand of blackend Death in a powerfully produced and very skilled manner these days. The fact that Pulverised Records spent some extra money on the deluxe packaging of this MCD (it comes with an additional slipcase, offers a cool kind of embossed printed booklet and furthermore features an IMPIETY patch) should be prove enough how much this label seems to believe in this band as well.
