INCREMATE is a Death Metal trio from Germany. The band was formed back in 2007 but according to their bio, they have had a string of problems and line-up changes. I guess that is why there is no previous releases other than this, their debut album "Prospect Of Death", released by (the also German) Godeater Records. And well, it seems the wait was worth it. Their album sits well within the Death Metal realm, aided by the use (but not abuse) of blast beats and some really good slow passages. Even though they are 3 guys, the band is heavy and savage, featuring a solid rhythm section courtesy of Teo (drums) and Danny (bass), aggressive grunted vocals and a bunch of great riffs from guitarist and vocalist Ronald. Some of these songs are really catchy; specially the fast ones. ‘Anger Forms Humility’ is probably my fave track from "Prospect Of Death". The leads are not exactly the highlights here, but they do add variety. Nowadays, the Death Metal sub genre is full of overproduced bands, which, in my humble opinion, suppresses the human factor in making music. Luckily, this is not the case with INCREMATE. I really liked the production. It is full of dynamics and nuances. It reminded me the early 90s Morrisound Studios style, with a natural drum sound, a good presence of bass and guitar and the vocals pushed back a tad in the mix. The mastering is nicely done without pushing the compression to the limit and that is something that I personally welcome. Good song structures, awesome riffing and an organic production make this a really enjoyable album. If I had to compare it to an album, it would be specifically MALEVOLENT CREATION’s "The Ten Commandments". It has the same speed, vibe and atmosphere.
