Polish Death Metal machine KINGDOM releases their second album 10 years after the conception, in a sound that recalls the morbid old school way of Death Metal with traces to early MORBID ANGEL, IMMOLATION, INCANTATION, ENTOMBED, CARCASS with more than a subtle touch of satanic poetry in the lyrics. Even the production does recall the aura of those bands that dwelled in the 90s in every fanzine you could get your hands on (the snare drum has a pretty annoying sound though – Frank). There is a strong Death / Grind touch that reminded me of more obscure bands like CREMATORY or PURTENANCE just to name a few. So, yes, there is absolutely not a single trace of originality to be found here, and that, in this case, is not exactly a bad thing. Also, one must consider that the best song here is a quite good cover in a more grinding version of ‘Supposed To Rot’ by NIHILIST / ENTOMBED, so take that in mind, and you will enjoy an above average album of old school morbid Death Metal, but do not expect nothing more. And for a 10 years old band, it might be a bit too much to expect something better in a next offering, but then again, never underestimate the powers of the ways of the old. www.kingdom.glt.pl, www.hellthrasher.com
