Hell yeah – there it is: "Unending Degradation", the long awaited debut full-length by one of the most promising new Death Metal bands. My expectations were rather high and those young Finnish ghouls delivered exactly that unholy Death Metal masterpiece I expected. When I first listened to their grandiose debut demo "Open The Crypt" from 2009 I became instantly addicted to their sound and when I saw them live on stage at Wolfsbane Festival 2011 in the Netherlands I was totally overwhelmed by their intense performance. Can’t tell you how often I have listened to the "Open The Crypt" demo, it is so incredible brilliant. The band re-recorded three of the four demo tunes for their full-length debut which is a proof of the outstanding quality of that demo. KRYPTS did not create something new or something wannabe original, but they are able to compose tremendous hymns with varied song structures, an absolutely unique, dark and morbid atmosphere and an immense recognition value. The mature songwriting skills of this young band are simply astonishing, epic doomy heaviness alternates with morbid melodies and blasting brutality. The production is massive, utterly heavy and absolutely blameless; this is how Death Metal has to sound. Back in the early 90s when everyone was praising Swedish Death Metal I preferred the Finnish neighbors. While most Swedish bands played very, very similar music there was nothing like a typical Finland sound. The only thing most Finnish had in common was the darkness, the morbidity, the brutally and the ability to compose outstanding songs. KRYPTS is a band which directly follows the tradition of old masters such as DEMIGOD, DEMILICH, CONVULSE or ADRAMELECH (ABHORRENCE? – Frank). The KRYPTS sound is a combination of references to old Finnish bands, classical Swedish Death Metal, early US and early European Death Metal. Therefore I guess that every god dammed Death Metal lover should adore this band. To sum it up: KRYPTS created a Death Metal monument which surely will be known as a classic pretty soon and definitely will block my stereo for the near future. So don’t waste your time listening to the 10000th ENTOMBED or MORBID ANGEL clone or some lame brutal hipsters, this is the real shit! Get your copy immediately or rot in heaven! Hail the Metal of Death!!! HAIL KRYPTS !!!! http://krypts.wordpress.com, http://krypts.bandcamp.com, www.darkdescentrecords.com

Finland strikes yet again with this morose and downtuned slab of old school Death Metal. While I admit this retro trend generally has me yawning, KRYPTS’ debut was a pleasant surprise. Much the way that "Into The Grave" always does, these guys put me into a dour and misanthropic mood; a considerable feat when the listener is a jaded old man. I was very stoked with the frequent Doom Death passages on this album; in fact, this is where KRYPTS excels. The faster segments tend to get a little muddy, being that the guitars are tuned so low. A promising debut – the second record from KRYPTS should find them in fine form. Fans of COFFINS and the like are encouraged to indulge. http://krypts.wordpress.com, http://krypts.bandcamp.com, www.darkdescentrecords.com
