This record seems to be sold out already. At the moment, the band is working on a 10″ entitled “Armageddon Warriors”. This output sounds cool to me. Very primitive and straight Death Black Metal with hoarse vocals. The material sounds extremely aggressive and convincing. The singer comes across like a true Metal maniac singing until he’s out of breath. The drums are blasted through the songs like nothing… what a delight! The guitars sound a bit squeaky… but otherwise they add to the generally positive impression this output brings about. The guitars are played swiftly, apparently inspired by old school Death / Thrash bands. From time to time I felt reminded of Belgium’s IMPEDIGON who I love dearly. THE REBELLION sound authentic — no fake here. This truly is Death / Black Metal armageddon. Definitely not my favourite sort of Metal, but passionate – that’s certain. THRONEUM occupy the second half of this split-output with their brutal Grind / Death. I love their sound. It very much reminds me of NAPALM DEATH during their “Harmony Corruption” phase. How come I come up with this association? Well — the sound of the guitars is just striking in its resemblance, the singer seems to like good, ol’ Barney a lot too, which is awesome. The songs are incredibly fast all almost all the time, which will certainly bore the listener a bit when checking an entire album I bet. Sometimes there are some mid-paced double-bass attacks as well, providing some variation, which I appreciate greatly. Wow – I really like the production of the guitars – very smooth, distinct, haunting. Good stuff this and certainly a bold and interesting compilation these two bands have released via Macabre Operetta Records.
