How much does Rogga Johansson make in royalties? I’ve often wondered this and I hope he makes enough to live off of his music, I’d be very upset otherwise. He’s also lined up for another RIBSPREADER release in this month, so he better be making enough! As I kept thinking of this, I found myself at track # 4, ‘Dusk Has Come’ and I thought to myself, that it isn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Maybe, I should move away from this Rogga Johansson line of thought, I mean, this man is literally everywhere you see! He’s easily one of the hardest working Death Metal musicians currently. Moving along, THOSE WHO BRING THE TORTURE have actually put together a fine release in the form of “Towards Decay”. This is a fine, matured Death Metal record where the more I heard the record, the more I liked it. The drumming is adequate, in fact the entire rhythm section is perfect, I wouldn’t have asked for any changes here. The vocals suit the purpose with no excessiveness anywhere. The solos are melodic and fit right into the entire message of the music. “Towards Decay” is traditionally melodic and with touches of aggressiveness sprinkled generously across its 30 minutes run time. I really enjoy quality releases that are at the 30 minutes mark and “Towards Decay” sits right at the border of generic Metal and great Metal which is quite a generous outlook. I don’t have any complaints whatsoever. There are beautiful soundscapes from time to time that just make the songs flow gently and before you’d know it, the songs are done. Other times, the songs just go through in a formulaic fashion. No matter what, if you like your HM-2 Death Metal or Melodic Death Metal at large this is certainly a release for you.
