FATHER BEFOULED
Obscurus Nex Cultus
(Krucyator Productions)
34:56min

10 years have passed, since Gasmask Productions released FATHER BEFOULED’s debut full length "Obscurus Nex Cultus", and now it’s time for another French label to put the album back out where it belongs, on the shelves, so more rancid Death Metal fans can get a bite of Atlanta’s own Death Metal machine. The band is delivering doomy Death Metal, stylistically and soundwise close to especially INCANTATION with a whiff of the pummeling dark atmosphere that IMMOLATION has been crushing weaklings with since 1988. Though still with their own take on the music, the music is driven by the dark eerie riffing, the doomy rhythm section and the hellish dark and crushing atmosphere FATHER BEFOULED is painting with the music. The repugnant growls and screams from JBS do add quite a lot to the overall ambience of the album as well. "Obscurus Nex Cultus" is one hell of a debut album, and the band has just kept on delivering since then, and is one of the darkest finest entities today, and I can’t think of a bad release they’ve made or been part of, that’s the way to go! This is a must have album for all fans of doomy and destructive Death Metal, 36 minutes of a grey rollercoaster ride into unknown demonic and hellish bowels of pandemic proportions, bowels where not all return from!
