NECROWRETCH
Putrefactive Infestation

Morbidity reeks through the speakers when the needle hits the first crack of this MLP release from the French necro-maniacs NECROWRETCH. Crypt-infested Death Metal beyond this modern worlds’ shenanigans, a pure old school attack of death, sickness and decay, inspired by masters of the art, especially with the almighty AUTOPSY in a leading role. Midpaced madness with insisting guitar riffs and a grim growl lead the way through forest of decomposed bodies and worse. The band really amazes me with their way of creating a dark, eerie and thick disturbing necro-sphere with very simple means, well-thought riffing and melodies and small pace shifts. An evil and raw bass line murking around between guitars and drums, and I have the mention the growl again, really well done vocals. They embrace and lift the atmosphere and generel feel of death and decay. I’d heard a lot of talk of NECROWRETCH before putting ears to this release, though hadn’t heard a single riff from them until "Putrefactive Infestation". I had been looking forward to hearing them, and in that way, might have been looking too much forward to getting this release for review, sometimes expectations can be hard to live up to. Though with NECROWRETCH I’ve found no disappointment, of course the stylistic niche hits it right off with my taste of Death Metal and Metal in general, though it’s still a damn fine release, soul and intensity on top of the morbid and obscure box the band have placed themselves in, a damn fine piece of Death Metal. I’m already hungering for new NECROWRETCH material to devour! www.myspace.com/vladrituals and www.detestrecords.com
