NECROWRETCH
Putrid Death Sorcery
(Century Media Records)
35:50min

Few times an album title fits the music as well as in this case. This is putrid Death Metal with an evil touch of evil magick. First of all this French band has been active since 2008 and under their belt they have a few EPs and demos. In this time and day it is quite strange to see a “big” label to take a chance with a newcomer, but in this case I applaud the decision. The main style is that of evil Death Metal which recalls a bit the side of Swedish Death terror more in the GRAVE / UNLEASHED way with bit of DEATH / AUTOPSY and some almost Black Metal shrieks, which in this case belongs more to the screamy and deathly KREATOR style, thus adding that morbid touch of Thrash Metal madness. The fantastic cover art reminds of times where photoshop was just an illusion and brings that aura of when real artists were doing real covers for real Death Metal bands. And at just 35 minutes it has the right amount of Metal of Death we all came to worship and respect. In this time and age it is hard to come out with such a great product, but then alas, it is a more than welcome addition to the realms of Death Metal. A vinyl version is available for those followers of this format, which just for the art will be worthy, but then again, the music is also killer. Now I have one for top 2013 releases. Get yourself into the smelly rotten death…black sorcery will consume you mind.
