After the semi-classical "Diabolical Bloodshed" it took Swedish Death Metallists NOMINON quite a few years to come up with another release, it was 2003 when the cool "Blaspheming The Dead" EP finally surfaced and it seems that from that day on things have sped up a little in the NOMINON camp. Because there’s another piece of death ready, this time it’s a MCD / MLP entitled "The True Face Of Death" and though it stylistically continues in the tradition of the already mentioned EP there some minor elements affecting NOMINON’s qualities in a pretty negative way. The production is somewhat imbalanced since the vocals appear way too loud, the guitars a little too clean and lacking the right dose of rawness. Who knows the "Blaspheming The Dead" EP should not recognize too big differences musically, but overall I had expected a little more of NOMINON, more morbidity, more violence… Each song has its moments, there are some really cool Swedish old school Death Metal riffs, but NOMINON don’t make enough of their obviously present potential. Their blending of Swedish Death Metal with a bit of Thrash is great, but they definitely need the Sunlight-like sound back, which made their debut so incredibly good.
