Ah, here’s another gem from the fantastic Death Metal scene in Chile. To be honest, maybe UNAUSSPRECHLICHEN KULTEN is even among the best and most unique bands from that still not so well known scene. Up to now, the four piece from the metropol region of Santiago has a quite impressive discography of three albums and numerous demos and split releases. With “Keziah Lilith Medea (Chapter X)”, we now have the fourth full length of UNAUSSPRECHLICHEN KULTEN. And after all the other great stuff I heard from them yet, this album is a promise fully delivered, even a little more than expected. Well, what is to expect, for those of you who haven’t heard the brutal Death Metal of UNAUSSPRECHLICHEN KULTEN before? The best description is a damn unique mix of INCANTATION and old MORBID ANGEL, add some IMMOLATION, blacken it all a little bit and you get a vague idea. But that is definitely only a rough comparison, since UNAUSSPRECHLICHEN KULTEN are far too unique to be copycats, of course. And the variety of ideas even seems to have increased on “Keziah Lilith Medea (Chapter X)”. We have some melodic guitars on this album (‘The Woman, The Devil And God’s Permit’), sometimes even close to sounding Swedish (‘Firma El Libro De La Muerte’ and ‘The Mark Of The Devil’) and first and foremost exquisite songwriting. UNAUSSPRECHLICHEN KULTEN know how to place breaks perfectly to increase the tension, thus creating the most diversified brutal Death Metal I heard in years. Just listen to the devastating breaks in the monolithic ‘Firma El Libro De La Muerte’ or the incredible ‘Sacrificio Infanticida’ to understand. Before I steal more of your precious time, I can only advise anybody reading to listen to "Keziah Lilith Medea (Chapter X)", since this album surely is one of the best in 2017.
