Thanks be to Metal Mind for making classics such as these available once more. I myself am tired of torching my wallet for these things, much as I may love them. The inaugural SINISTER album, “Cross The Styx”, is a masterpiece. It does everything a good album should; elegantly announces its individuality, roars furiously and builds tension and pressure all throughout all the while maintaining enough control to let the listener know what’s happening. And, as the name befits, SINISTER play their music in such a way that the album, though you may listen to it once, you will not soon forget it. Songs such as the title track, ‘Cross The Styx’ and ‘Epoch Of Denial’, remain SINISTER classics today. What makes SINISTER sound so, well – sinister – is their use of discordant notes. By no means is this a novel innovation, for bands have used this approach for decades, but to do it so creatively in the still developmental stages of Death Metal is noteworthy. This re-release comes as a limited, numbered digipak edition (2000 copies) and features the additional live tracks (‘Barbaric Order’, ‘(Enslaved The Weak Intro)’ and ‘Enslaved The Weak’.
