The Carnage Ending

Dutch Death demons SINISTER are still alive and well, even after more than 20 years they won’t give up on feeding their pure and brutal Death Metal to those who know and those who love. "The Carnage Ending" is their 10th full length album to date and it offers nothing really unexpected. It’s brutal, it’s fast, it’s not progressive, it’s not spoiled by a collection of meaningless breaks… And it’s a good album as well, not the best one SINISTER did ("Cross The Styx" is still top of the bill) but still a good one. Let’s call it high quality… And this quality is refined by a great production (Soundlodge Studios), some slower parts and the feeling for the right moment to use these parts. Listen to ‘Blood Ecstasy’ and you’ll find the proof for this. And it’s not the only highlight on "The Carnage Ending". The title track also rips massively and ‘My Casual Enemy’ with its SLAYER vibes turned out to be my fave on the album. To sum it up: if you like European Death Metal with old school vibes, you don’t make a grave mistake with "The Carnage Ending". The most special thing is the bonus CD added to the limited edition (digipak, bla bla bla) with 5 old school Death (and Thrash) Metal classics played the SINISTER way. The idea reminds you of the newest GRAVE album? Me, too. Two minds, one idea I guess. And I don’t mind this kind of paying tribute to the heroes of my youth, as long as it is just a bonus and done as well as it is done here. I like what they did to CELTIC FROST (‘Dethroned Emperor’) and POSSESSED (‘Swing Of The Axe’), even though it is close to the originals.
