I really gotta thank INGURGITATING OBLIVION’s Ulli for introducing me to the mighty ERODED! This German two-piece musically exactly continues on where early GRAVE, FUNEBRE, TRAUMATIC, MACABRE END, KAAMOS, EXCRUCIATE, DEMIGOD, CREMATORY (SWE) or CARNAGE (among others) left off in their heydays! Haven’t heard a band of this kind in Germany ever since FLESHCRAWL. But ERODED are far more brutal than them, believe me! To quote their website here, "ERODED is listenable darkness, blackening the infernal abyss, blowing in the winds of remembrance and carved in the brazen image of the dead. ERODED raise their chapels of blood to the ancient times. This is the second coming of darkness. This is the end of days. This is DEATH." I couldn’t have said it any better… Before they ended up on this split 7" with Sweden’s PAGANIZER (what a cool combination by the way), they already put out a demo ("Beneath The Cross"), that featured three killer songs (‘Beneath The Cross’, ‘From The Ancient Graves’ and ‘The Pits Of Gruesome Death’) as well as a short intro (‘At The Stakes’). Unfortunately that is completely sold out by now, so you better invest some bucks in this 70g black vinyl, which is limited to 500 copies. ERODED contribute ‘Black Empire’ and ‘The Goats Of Heaven’ (both are even more intense than the demo songs!) while Sweden’s PAGANIZER also deliver two previously unreleased tunes (‘Gasmask Obsession’ and ‘Hell Is Already Here’). Hope you’ll forgive me, that I focused so much on ERODED here, but considering the fact that PAGANIZER have already several (full length) releases out, I suppose that they should be known to every lover of first class Swedish old school Death.
